last day of attachment le..
i believe that i have gone through one moment in my life that i might never forget. being the tf of YLF. haha.. its been a heaven of an adventure, that i can only get from being in this camp, again after 7 years of absence. its been the same feelings right from the participants days to now being a tf. i believe that i am making a difference. big or small doesn't matter, but the kids are growing up, to see the world with more angels and are more matured. thats the only thing i can hope for and they had delivered, i believe above expectations. hope things will go well tml. may god bless us all, all as in the clients, us- the good ppl from YLF, and the volunteering spirit. =D
oh yes.. attachment had been a period to strut ur stuff. watever u guys learn in the camp, practical-ise it and see where u can improve and learn on the way.

how can we forget about the bedok interchange food..
the art and craft sessions, threading of beads, please take a closer look at the beads. he is treading it in diff colours assortments, for those that still dun understand, he is really improving. things that we take for granted, they take a longer time to learn, but they will eventually get it, fret not! +P
one of our main task was to do up a banner for christmas event this sat.. and this is how our master piece looks like when it is done =D

hi everybody,
another saturday working.. ha.. kinda no life yea. but i think its worth it la.. as i had 3 off days helping out in sundac home for the elderly and disabled. =D
boss must be fuming alr. haha.. anyways guys sth to note, next monday i will not be around, but tuesday friday and saturday will be around. +D
oh yes, the long overdued stuff. haha..i gotta have alittle summary of whatever we need had discussed about. friday was a good day.. some of the guys(jh, merv and nas) went to the botanical gardens, while the rest(hong chuan lyon alv
kit and me) stayed back to help out in the home itself, as ppl from the big 4 accounting firm came by to 'volunteer'. yea.. haha.. the inverted comma(s) is to signify their good try in trying to volunteer. i do not blame them, lets call it, they are not v good in this kinda thing and might be their first time. and yea.. after that we went to watch movie. alvin and the chimunks! haha.. super cute trio, alv theo simon. haha..i personally love the scene when they were locked outside the window and was singing the song. haha.. so cute yea.. =P
that was the day, and we went back home after that. the end of a week of volunteering, how did u guys feel? do u think u have learnt watever u guys need to learn in accordance with wat u have written in ur time capsule? if not i have a good news, u still have one more week. =D i believe u guys learnt alot, me too. you guys are great.
alright now for the reflections on wed and monday.
alv-> refreshing and heart warming experience. clients learned words from the art and craft sessions. alv basically drawn pictures and lead them to name the objects they are colouring, thus learning words from there.
merv-> don't know words, but still showed minimum response(art and craft lesson)
lyon-> need time to adapt,but when new people come, some clients will become naughty. as time goes by, will know how to deal with clients better.
Jing juan a.k.a JH->mixed emotions. limitations("thats all we can do" prophecy). amazed that clients will come over to her by themselves.
Nas-> went smoothly, some of the guys are kinda experience, mentally prepared, did well.
Hong chuan-> With his speech...here goes..herrr(breathes in..) As long as we can correct every little thought/gesture/action, quite quiet, ie. have you eated, casual qns. u will develop the clients' trust in u. that is what it means by, making a small impact on them(to u is small),but to them, it is a big impact, as they get new friends. we are there not to solve their problems(i concure!)we are there to just guide them. treat them as human beings too, juz like u will treat us , treat them that way too.
me->taking photographs is ok, but got to let shannon look at it again b4 we can use them. don't merely help the clients, they don't learn that way. instead,guide them. give them an opportunity to think on their own. note that higher performance clients get harder colouring jobs. such as colour with numbers on it. (note the segregation of ability groups to help them improve progressively.)
oh yea, and we met changloo on wednesday evening. at yoshinoya.
some thing he talked about:
1)the one year plan(tf route) tf training 3 days2 nights usually in dec 1st. only certain get togethers during some time of the year.
2)SVC(student volunteer corps.a VWO) organizing and doing 3 main events next year, OD, YVIP'08, ACE.interested please tell ur tf.. or in that case.. me.
3)SVC's reach out and promotion of the game 'BOCCIA', a game that resembles "gor-li"(marble). anyone interested to know more, can tel me ya, will tell ya more about it.

ok.. so everyone is warmed up to sing the yvip song eh.. .....for this is how.. we sang our song.. sing it bright and sing it strong.. for though we're young, we stand up tall, heart to heart, we'll never fall.. ...
dunch u think this chorus is great? haha.. it encompasses every freaking thing that we had felt and is currently practising in our daily life now. =D
YVIP is that kinda camp. It's kinda life changing to me. From a person that is blur and in a world of his own, to become someone that is more sensitive and more appreciative of the world, a really big change yea. haha.. i kinda see things differently. think everyone YLF feels this way eh =D
YVIP'07 was a resounding success! haha..
the participants transformed frm ultra antisocial cool-headed straight ppl to become more sensitive and hot blooded volunteers! thats great eh.. =P give everybody a rounddddd of applause. =D
well.. the highlight of the camp fer me was the disability challenge, haha. think alvin must had felt strongly for my opinion here.. haha.. we had fun, but more importantly, we learned through practical experiencing the difficulties faced by the disabled when they use the public transport systems, when they eat, when they are looked at as ''weird''. i believe everyone benefited from this experience and it will most likely live within you for life. =)
oh yes.. down to attachment! attachment is a period of time where the newly 'graduated' volunteers go to real life environment to do Vw(volunteer work), under real life circumstances and really applying whatever they are garnered in their arsenal in the past 4 days 3 nights to better the life of the beneficiaries.
the first day i was there, with everyone else except renuka who was busy working.
i guess for most of them, it was an eye opener. well.. wat's next aft opening ur eyes? to locate what a volunteer instinctively recognize, to try and make the first contact with the clients. i believe fer most of them, it was a cold start, but things started to warmed up isn't it? i mean. its the same for any people relationship(pr) ie. when u see ur new classmates in sch, its the same, we usually start off cold. =D so in this light, i will like everyone to hopefully rem that these clients are though id, but still humans +D juz like u and me. so yea. we went along well, and the staff there were really strict when it comes to discipline and getting a point across to the clients. ha.. but that is for a good reason. i mean.. they are id, and yea, they behave sth along the line like children, so if we use a more assertive feel when trying to get a pt across, it believe it will be more effective. look at the bright side, the client will benefit from whatever we are doing, and thats what the staff is doing, and what i believe we are doing too, to better the standard of living(as in happiness) of the clients. (~~ take note of the famous vision of yvip, passion of the heart, power of the mind.~~)
the day ended and yea.. i guess everyone is tired.. haha.. same here. ha.. i worked on tues and on the coming thrus too.. haha.. so yea.. i hope everyone enjoy their stay in the home, treasure these last few days with the clients as i dunno wat will happen aft tt, u guys might be busy and totally forget about the home and stuff.. but my pt is simply, to enjoy and cherish the time while u have in the home with the clients and ur buddies in our team, YLF =P
will post the summary of wat u guys think of on the next blog entry + some pictures and videos i took at say 10 pm? haha.. cause i still haven't eaten dinner yet. ha..
